Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord , the fruit of the womb is a reward. 4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. 5 Happy is the man who has a quiver full of them; they shall not be ashamed, but shall speak with their enemies in the gate.

—Psalm 127:3-5

IT’S A SHAME that many today view what God has deemed a heritage and a reward as a consequence and inconvenience, even denying the very right to life by aborting the fruit of the womb. That’s one of the hidden costs associated with going against God and teaming up with the competition. In our verses today, the author likens the children of the household that has God’s home security system inplace to arrows in the hand of a warrior whose home that is filled with children is like a quiver filled with arrows, and he will not be ashamed (or afraid).

Asaph, regarding the importance of the preparation-for-the-future feature of God’s system, wrote: “Give ear, O people, to my law; . . . I will open my mouth in a parable . . . which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and His strength and His wonderful works that He has done. For He established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in . . . that they should make them known to their children; that the generation to come might know them . . . that they may arise and declare them to their children, that they may set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments . . . (Psalm 78:1-8).

Asaph says the system can’t be inherited but must be installed in our children through product awareness. We need to tell them what God has done and will do, so that future generations are prepared to reach their peers through product knowledge and customer satisfaction testimonials about the supremacy of God’s security system! It’s a system that has never been marketed by Wall Street but hasbeen offered for generations one at a time by satisfied customers who assure itscontinuance by transferring it on.

There are only two manufacturers of the types of home security systems of which we speak. One has a 100-percent success rate, and the other has a 100-per-cent failure rate. Sadly, the majority of consumers in the world choose the failed system, even some within the church. Children will often choose the system that was in their parent’s home. Are our children being prepared to be arrows in the hand of warrior or defeated by an enemy at the gate? Nothing prepares your children for life better than teaching them the Word and the ways of God. They can face their enemies; they are like arrows in the hands of a warrior, and God rewards a home when children are taught about Him. What does the competition offer? “Your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (1Peter 5:8).

I’ll include here the old adage, “When you find a Bible that’s falling apart, it’sowned by a Christian who isn’t.” Homes are falling apart today because they’ve installed a worldly home security system. They have pursued things that moneycan buy, often at the expense of things that money cannot. Just because the other system is offered with promises of pleasure and success, remember that its man- ufacturer is an experienced con man who has been wrecking homes for a long time, leading people to believing that they are safe. He does it by false advertising (see Genesis 3:1-7). He destroyed the very first home on earth with the same falseadvertising he uses today: “Did God really say . . . ?”

Don’t buy the lie! God’s home security system is the only one that protects, provides, and prepares your home—satisfaction guaranteed!
