Walking in the Wisdom of His Word

My son let them not depart from your eyes—keep sound wisdom and discretion;
so they will be life to your soul and grace to your neck. Then you will walk safely
in your way, and your foot will not stumble. When you lie down, you will not be
afraid; yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet. Do not be afraid of
sudden terror, nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; for the Lord will be
your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught.

—Proverbs 3:21–26

God’s plan for us is a joy-filled life of victory and safety from self-inflicted wounds, and stability of heart and mind even when everything around us seems crazy. His plan is for us to travel a steadfast and secure journey through life and exercise power over the enemy’s schemes and snares. To view the Christian life as anything less is just wrong. The Christian life is not bondage—it’s freedom! The Christian life is not a bunch of “thou shalt nots”; the Christian life is a bunch of “you can through Christ.”

By walking according to the wisdom of God’s Word, you can have peace and enjoy safety from your own wounds of disobedience and need not fear the hidden traps of the enemy. So walk in the confidence of the wisdom of the Word today, knowing the Lord will never lead you into substandard living. The steps He will guide you to take will be the best ones for you and will provide the most joy and safety that can be had in this life.

To live by a negative or bondage-type view of the Christian life is to not understand it at all. Following after God’s wisdom is the way to live free. A joyless life void of all pleasure and filled with only boredom and pain is not the way to live and is completely contrary to the truth.

Just do what the Word of God says today and your day will be blessed, safe, and victorious. And the great thing is, you can have another day just like it tomorrow!
