A Hill to Die On

Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge; There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. —Psalm 19:2-4

These verses proclaim that the heavens are the work of God’s hands, and that He (not undirected natural causes) created the stars, constellations, and galaxies, and that creation itself was His first preacher. Through the magnificence of the design of the cosmos, God is declared to be the Creator behind the order seen in the sun, moon, and stars. Order never happens by chance, and thus man, because of creation (if he is honest), is driven to search for God. In Jeremiah 29:1, God assures us, “You will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” When we seek after that One whom the heavens declare to be the Creator, He can be found.

Let’s consider a few facts related to the proclamation that God is the Creator: 1) The heavens themselves prove what the Bible claims. Creation declares that there is someone or some thing greater than us, especially when we measure ourselves against the innumerable stars. 2) The Bible proclaims that a Triune God created and holds all things together. 3) Scientists can offer no other real evidence for how anything began.

In Psalm 19, David points to the continuing night-day cycle that was initiated in the beginning. This agrees with Genesis 1:3-5: “And God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light . . . and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day and the darkness He called Night.”

Scientists fail in their efforts to disprove creation because they have no actual proof of how the universe could have come about through any other means. Yet they persist in their denial of God and cling to their own unproven theories. Sadly, denying the creation of the universe by a loving God is the reason our world is in the moral condition it’s in (Romans 1:18-19). If there is no Creator of all that exists to whom we must give an account, then there is nothing to prevent wickedness from having free rein. But the truth is, no one is without divine revelation. The otherwise unexplainable proclamation of creation itself proves that this is so. In fact, the very things that the evolutionist uses to declare that there is no God are what God will use to judge them in the Tribulation (Revelation 6:12-17).

For those who know the truth, this is indeed a hill worth dying on.
